Raiders of the Lost Ark Movie Night with Map Making Workshop

The Makerie featuring Indiana Jones!

Join us for a fun night filled with a movie and creativity!

This evening will feature a fun session inspired by the treasure hunting in the Indiana Jones movies. Map your own treasure map!

From 6-7pm we will give you some inspiration and tips on creating your own map!

There are so many styles you can tackle it with!

Perhaps you’d like to make a traditional treasure map like we’re used to seeing in pirate movies.

Perhaps you’d like to make a map in a more modern style.

To prepare for this session, you may wish to make some notes on some of your favourite or most meaningful places. These could be in your local community, or in your hometown, or around the world. Could be places that hold special memories for you, favourite haunts, or even places you one day wish to visit. Or your places could be completely made up fictional places based on some silly story you’re crafting for yourself. No matter the approach, it will surely be fun.

You’ll be provided with a sheet of symbols to use as inspiration for marking places on your map, and we’ll be on hand to help you along the way! We are thrilled to have local artist/illustrator Emily Wilson joining us to help get everyone started!

Once we’ve gotten everyone started with their maps, you’ll have a couple of hours to work more independently on your project.

Launching The Makerie’s Indiana Jones summer theme, this evening will feature a showing of Steven Spielberg’s classic film “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark”.

This film is rated PG-13.

Movie to begin at 7pm.

There’s a good chance you won’t have enough time to finish this project in the three hour window. We’ll ensure you have materials to take along with you to complete your project at home. You’re also welcome to return to The Makerie to work on your project by booking a table and paying our studio fee.

You’ll be able to choose art paper or illustration board as the base for your project on arrival.
